Our Assistant Teacher, Deanna Moreno
|
While in her second year in the role of assistant teacher at the preschool, she has spent much of the last decade here as a parent member of the Co-op. After enlistment in the Air Force, she pursued a career path in the Hospitality and Human Resources fields before becoming a mother. She has spent the last 15 years raising her own four children ages 15, 11, 8, and 5 years. She has provided tutoring and after-school care in her home, while also taking several opportunities along the way to teach a home-based preschool and several church nursery and vacation bible school programs, and continues to volunteer in her own children's classrooms on a regular basis. In her spare time, she loves to cook, write poetry, read and scrapbook.
"My days at the Co-op are filled with the fun and excitement of watching the children learn and many opportunities to see the world through a child's eyes." --Deanna Moreno

Our Parent Education Instructor, Gayne Phillips
|
This is Gayne’s 20th year teaching in the Bellevue College Parent Education Program. In addition, she was a children’s teacher in a variety of Bellevue College’s preschool programs for 14 years. That experience enables her to effectively assist the teacher, the children, and the working parents when she attends our preschool class on a weekly basis.
Gayne holds two degrees from Washington State University; a B.A. in Home Economics from the Child & Family Studies Department, and an M.A. in Child Development. She is the mother of two grown daughters and first became associated with the Bellevue College Parent Education as a parent herself, in 1981.
Gayne facilitates our monthly Parent Education classes, which include lecture, discussion, and problem-solving components. Topics are determined by the needs of the parents, but always include normal child development, and effective discipline techniques. Parent conferences are offered in the spring. She is also available for private, informal consultation.
